CT 05: Facing Inwards or Outwards

Mark initiates discussion with Rudy about the difference between living your life facing outwards versus living your life with an inward focus. Facing outwards describes a personal psyche that is fear driven whereby there is a belief that negative feelings are caused outside of you by others and that they are to blame for your life events, circumstances, and outcomes. This includes a pertinent discussion on how some of our modern parenting techniques caused fear-based conditioning of young children and how this leads to adults living their lives looking outward for answers which can only be found within.

Rudy gives an example of how unconditional support of a child walking on a tightrope can reinforce a plethora of positive belief systems that will later play out in adulthood. The discussion finally turns to practical advice for how to deal with fear and insecurity in the workplace environment.
